REPORT OF THE RECREATION BOARD TO MILLCREEK SUPERVISORS
January 6, 2014

Meeting called to order at 7:06 p.m. by Director Bob Wright.
December Minutes – read by secretary and approved by board via unanimous voice vote.
Treasurer’s Report – reviewed final 2013 receipts and expenses and balanced accounts for soccer, summer playground, rec stand and general funds.
Rec Board Bylaws – tabled until next meeting.
Fundraising for Newburg Ball fields – Ron has draft letter, needs copy of field diagram. Karen Crater from Zoning will be invited to next Rec Board meeting. Look into selling bricks to raise money; Ron will try to get brick sample and pricing for next meeting. Look into grant from Lebanon Daily News.
Website – Maureen will work with Ken Hertzog to develop.
Christmas Contest – judging went well and award letters will be sent shortly.
Fall Frolic Changes – possibly sell tickets at main table instead of having multiple staff with money bags.
2014 Planning – developed calendar of events to send to Dawn and post through town. Maureen will send and print. Have to check with previous summer playground staff to see if returning.
2014 Projects – reviewed projects for coming year, including lean to for pavilion, cement ramp for pavilion, gaga pit for summer playground, painting and cabinets for rec stand, new nets and goals for soccer.
Promotional Signs – need to replace former Len’s board.
Grant Money – determine use for county grant of $1,000. Township applying for another $3,100 county grant. Nestle gave the Township $5,000 to use for recreation.
ELCO Youth Baseball Collaboration – plans for fall baseball with registration fee. EYB will donate equipment to the Rec Board; Bob will email Ron with requests. May request use of ball fields in spring as they don’t expect use of Schaefferstown fields anymore.
