REPORT OF THE RECREATION BOARD
TO MILLCREEK SUPERVISORS
April 3, 2017
Recreation Board Members present at the meeting – Justin Arndt, Anthony Gettle, Angie Holmes, Betty Patches
Guests – Bob Wright, Libby Fiorini, Millcreek Township Supervisor Dan Hogeland
Meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Director Justin Arndt.
No public comments presented.
March 2017 Minutes – Motion to approve by Justin Arndt, seconded by Betty Patches. Approved by unanimous vote.
Correspondence – No new correspondence.
Treasurer’s Report – Reports for general fund, summer and soccer accounts provided by Treasurer Betty Patches. Motion to approve reports by Justin Arndt and seconded by Angie Holmes. Approved by unanimous vote.
Healthy Kids Running Program – First Sunday of program completed, a very popular and successful program with attendance of 80 plus youth participants. Request to use bathroom facilities discussed. Reviewed the possibility of offering a fall session of the program.
Newmanstown Community Association – No new group activity or new chairperson identified. Group to move to inactive status.
Bylaws –Recreation Board Bylaws have been submitted to Millcreek Township for review.
Baseball Field/Pavilion Rental and Reservation Agreement – Proposed changes to document discussed, including modification of fees. Newly designed document includes a Facilities Rental Chart which clarifies rates and deposits required for use of the different facilities available at White Swan Park. A motion made by Anthony Gettle, and seconded by Betty Patches to submit proposed changes to Township for review and use was approved.
2015 IRS Letter – Libby Fiorini has reviewed the document and will complete required paperwork for NCA.
Women’s Rec Softball – Start Date of May 16, 2017 with possible rain dates in August. Although the Rec Board did agree to a maximum expense of $100 to be used for league trophies, the participants have decided not to use trophies and will use a championship plaque only.
Snack Stand – Open for Healthy Kids Running Program using volunteers and offering healthy snack options. Staffing still needed for spring baseball and softball season which starts the last week of April. A motion to approve up to $8 per hour for the Snack Stand Coordinator/Staff was made by Justin Arndt and seconded by Anthony Gettle. All approved.
Summer Playground – Discussion regarding the program schedule and staff flexibility. All in agreement that the program could be offered as a different schedule other than Monday through Friday as long as the participants are offered the approved 12.5 hours a week.
Boyer’s Food Market Charge Account – All Rec Board members listed as authorized purchasers.
Newmanstown Richland Soccer Club – Discussion of program and equipment needs. Motion made by Angie Holmes to increase registration fee to $30 for first player, $25 for each additional player in same family. Motion seconded by Betty Patches. Flyers/sign-up sheets to be updated, copied and distributed to Fort Zeller Elementary, Intermediate School , and Teach A Tot Preschool.
Field Use – Community members should call to schedule use of fields. No charge to community members for pick-up games and recreational use however this will decrease scheduling conflicts.
