REPORT OF THE RECREATION BOARD
TO MILLCREEK SUPERVISORS
August 1, 2016

Meeting called to order at 7:01 p.m. by Director Bob Wright
July Minutes – approved by unanimous vote.
Correspondence – none.
Treasurer’s Report – report on general fund, summer and soccer accounts, approved by unanimous vote.
Summer Playground – 110 children participated in program, 40 signed up to date for Ozzy’s trip, things running smoothly.
Newmanstown-Richland Soccer Club – 80+ children sign up thus far , final registration deadline is August 5th; submitting insurance ASAP; new shirts designed by Casey Kreibel with no set up fees, will order upon final team assignments, shirts should be in August 12; have to contact photographer and arrange team picture date.
Field Use – community softball on Wednesdays until August 24th; rental on August 20th need rest rooms opened and extension cord available for electricity.
Snack Stand – need to finalize letter to EYB including offer for joint fundraiser; low numbers of sales overall; have final worker hours and purchasing receipts; need coverage for fall soccer season; left over freeze pops can be used for summer playground; for 2017 will require an updated EYB schedule with phone notification of cancellations/rescheduling, and overall full schedule of all games to be played from boys baseball and girls softball. Motion made for universal locks for snack stand equipment by J. Arndt, seconded by A. Gettle, passed by unanimous voice vote.
Bylaws – tabled until November 2016 meeting.
Newmanstown Community Assn. – some funds from weekly co-ed pick up softball games; display tables at National Night Out along with dunk tank, will have membership sign up list and brick campaign flyers, 100 each, Maureen will get copies made.
Fall Frolic – donation letter for area businesses, volunteer letter, vendor forms. All info posted on facebook site and mailed or distributed by board members. Will create master schedule and worker grid.
Crime Watch donation – motion made by B. Wright, seconded by M. McGuire for donation from Rec Board and NRSC to assist with National Night Out program by Crime Watch.
Playground Repairs – Bill and an assistant inspector from The Playground Pros assessed current playground equipment and grounds; mulch is needed in all areas surrounding and under swings and all equipment ASAP; that the current lack of mulch would cause a safety inspection failure. They will prepare an analysis for the Township on current equipment repairs/replacement needed and designate which items will need professional repair in order to be in compliance with regulations. Some repairs, such as the mulch replacement, can be done by volunteer/work crews.
